Wimborne firm raises £6,000 for Lewis-Manning Hospice

Quiz nights, Britain in the Blitz themed balls and prize draws were all part of the fun had by staff at Cobham Mission Equipment in Wimborne when they raised £6,000 for Lewis-Manning Hospice.

Staff at the flight refuelling company selected Poole’s Lewis-Manning Hospice as one of their chosen charities to support throughout 2011.

Their Britain in the Blitz style annual charity ball raised £4,000 for the hospice.

Sara Sheppard, Community Fundraiser at Lewis-Manning Hospice said: “We are so grateful for the enthusiasm and support shown by the staff at Cobham and the events we attended were fantastic!”

She added: “The money raised will go straight back into providing free specialist palliative care for our patients, and towards our Time to Care Appeal to build a state of the art hospice in Lilliput.”

The hospice provides free care and support to over 650 local people living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The charity is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary and is preparing to move back into a brand new hospice to expand their existing day hospice service and clinics, and a bedded unit.

They still need to raise £1.6million for the new hospice. If you would like to fundraise for the hospice please call 01202 701 000.
