Day Hospice

Our day hospice service aims to help support adults living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in co-operation with the wider multi-disciplinary team involved in their care.

Aromatherapy Massage

Day hospice operates Monday to Friday, from 10am to 4pm, with most patients attending one day each week but we are able to offer a more flexible appraoch to those who wish to dip in to our services.

We are a nurse-led unit; there are no doctors on site.  However, we maintain strong links with the medical, nursing and other professional teams involved in a person’s care.

The services provided include the following:

 ● Advice and support about relief from pain and other distressing symptoms
● Emotional support
● Help to maintain your independence with the use of physiotherapy
● Practical support including bathing facilities for those who are
unable to bath or shower at home
● General nursing care and hairdressing
● The chance to be involved in creative activities such as Arts Therapy
● A choice of menu for lunch, to meet any dietary requirements you may have
● Aromatherapy

The facilities provided include the following:

● Spacious day room with views over the grounds to the Poole Bay
● Three toilets, a bath and a shower with facilities for the disabled
● Combined physiotherapy and aromatherapy room with plinth
● A clinic room suitable for dressing changes
● A large variety of arts equipment
● Computer with internet access
● Appropriate medical equipment
● Electric recliner chairs
● Access to large garden with views over Poole Bay to the Purbecks
● An opportunity to meet with people in similar situations

Our experienced day hospice team includes specialist nursing staff, physiotherapists, health care assistants, aromatherapists, creative artists and a chef.  We are supported by trained volunteers, including drivers and receptionists.

We can arrange for you to see our chaplain or a priest if you wish.
