£10,000, 10 Peaks, 10 Extraordinary People
A huge congratulations and massive thanks go out to the 10-strong team of partners, solicitors, and administration staff at D’Angibau, who braved adverse weather conditions to climb 10 of the tallest mountains in the Lake District to raise money for Lewis-Manning Hospice.
The climbing expedition was undertaken in September but training and preparation for the determined team began in January 2009; however, one of the team said that “nothing could have prepared us for the challenge itself. Due to fog we had to rely heavily on a map and compass, we were only able to stop for 10 minutes for lunch, and the trek itself took 13½ hours! Even our two experienced mountain guides, Ross and “Scorch”, found it hard work – Scorch commented, “of all the silly things I have done in the mountains, this has been the hardest!” ”
The trek took the team through Langdale Valley and Buttermere, and included scaling the tallest mountain in England, Scafell Pike, which stands at over 3,200 feet, as well as Bowfell, Great Gable, and Haystacks.
On top of the physical effort the team at D’Angibau put in a massive fundraising effort and raised an incredible total of £10,000 that has been donated to Lewis-Manning Hospice. So on behalf of everyone at Lewis-Manning, well done and thank you for your support!
