Hospice Awareness Month
June is National Hospice Awareness Month, a whole month dedicated to raising awareness of the important role hospices play in their communities.
Go yellow!
Yellow is the colour representing hope and memory and the sunflower is the symbol of the National Hospice movement. During past Hospice Awareness Months we have donned our brightest sunshine yellow clothes for a 'Wear Yellow Day'.
Wear yellow day is a great way to raise awareness and raise funds for the hospice as everyone who wears yellow on the designated day makes a donation. We want as many people as possible to take part and spread the word about hospice awareness month, so why not encourage your school, college, work place, or social group to get involved?
You might want to wear just one item of yellow clothing, or accessorise with yellow - a tie or scarf or sunflower pin badge. Or you might want to go all and dress up in yellow fancy dress or paint your face - or perhaps you could sponsor your boss to wear a yellow wig? The possibilities are endless.
Other events
Throughout the month there are lots of other things going on as well.
Tea at 3 is another simple and fun way to raise money for your local hospice whether at work, school, regular group meetings or at your home, you can hold a tea party or ask people to donate for their tea break anytime throughout June.

We are also encouraging people to hold their own fundraising events based around a yellow or sunflower theme. This is a great opportunity for you to get creative and have fun, whilst also supporting your local hospice!
Your support during Hospice Awareness Month makes a valuable difference to the lives of over 650 local people that rely on our services.
