Hospice Awareness Month

Show your support for Hospice Awareness Month

Wear Yellow Day

June is National Hospice Awareness Month aimed at raising the awareness of the role played by hospices, so this year we're doing just that - raising awareness - and you can help!

Yellow is the colour representing hope and memory and the sunflower is the symbol of the National Hospice Movement, so Lewis-Manning Hospice is promoting a 'Wear Yellow Day', which as well as raising awareness will also raise some much needed funds.

We are holding our 'Wear Yellow Day' on 25 June along with Yellow Buses who are backing the campaign. On this day we are inviting businesses, schools, colleges, playgroups and supporters to join with us and dress from head to toe in sunshine yellow for National Hospice Awareness Month! There is no suggested donation for wear yellow day as every donation whether large or small is gratefully received and will benefit patients at the hospice.

If our date doesn't suit you and your group, pick another day! National Hospice Awareness is for the whole month of June, so any day during the month would be perfect for you to don your  loudest and brightest yellow clothes. You might want to wear just one item of yellow clothing, or accessorise with yellow - a tie or scarf or sunflower pin badge. Or you might want to go all and dress up n yellow fancy dress or paint your face - or perhaps you could sponsor your boss to wear a yellow wig? The possibilities are endless.

Other Events

Throughout the month there are lots of other things going on as well. There is 'Tie a Yellow Ribbon' where people can tie a ribbon in the hospice garden in memory of a loved one, and there are also Teas at 3 ...

Tea @ 3

Tea at 3 is another simple and fun way to raise money for your local hospice whether at work, school, regular group meetings or at your home, you can hold a tea party or ask people to donate for their tea break anytime throughout June.

We are also encouraging people to hold their own fundraising events based around a yellow or sunflower theme. This is a great opportunity for you to get creative and have fun, whilst also supporting your local hospice!

Your support during Hospice Awareness Month would make a valuable difference to the lives of over 650 local people that attend the hospice each year.
