A ‘big thank you’ from Lewis-Manning Hospice for donations
Poole’s Lewis-Manning Hospice was delighted to receive donations raised at a ‘Through the Decades’ event hosted by Carter Community School in Hamworthy in November.
School employees and local people attended the event and almost £600 was raised through ticket sales and a raffle. An equal amount of donations was also given to Friends of Forest Holme.
A Carter Community School spokesperson said: “Many of our staff and friends have lost loved ones to cancer over the past few years and a number have had cancer themselves, so we wanted to raise money for local hospices as a personal thank you for all the good work they do.”
Sara Sheppard, Community Fundraiser at Lewis-Manning Hospice said: “Thank you to everyone who made donations at this event. We are extremely grateful for continued support shown from the local community as we have to raise at least £50,000 every month to continue providing free cancer care for local people, so this money will go to a very worthy cause.”
Lewis-Manning Hospice is Poole’s voluntary hospice providing free day hospice facilities, a lymphoedema clinic and a breathlessness clinic. The charity is in its 20th year and is asking local people to donate £20 for their 20th anniversary. In April they will be opening a brand new state of the art hospice in Lilliput expanding their current services and providing a new bedded unit.
